Photorealism - Coke Cans

Coke Cans

Photorealism mixed together what is real and what is not real. For example, a photograph that was taken was based upon reality, however, there would be optical effects added to the photograph to create a blurred image or background. The artwork displayed popular consumer goods, fast food restaurants and mechanical toys, and would use colour and light together as one element.

To create a photograph showing photorealism, I took a photograph of Coke cans with names on them.  Coke is a very popular consumer brand and now they have released Coke cans which are designed with consumers names on them.  This will encourage the growth of the company as many people will now start to buy more Coke products that have their names on them.

I was inspired to take this photograph as I came across this photograph of Coke cans inside a plastic bag.  This photograph shows that someone has purchased these Coke cans, which makes it a consumer good.  At the time of photorealism, Coke was a very popular company, and now, it still is.

I wanted to photograph Coke cans because I beleive that Coke will continue to be a very popular company, as when someone looks at a photograph with Coke cans, they can relate to the image because they have already tasted Coke.
