Multiple Colours

Materials:  Acrylic paint on cartridge paper

Colour field tried to achieve form and composition.  The paintings were abstract and avoided the suggestion of a form standing out against a background.

Using painters tape, I placed tape on paper creating square and rectangular shapes across the paper, and then pained the shapes using colours which I thought would create unity; red, pink and brown.  

My painting is abstract, as it does not contain any form and does not suggest that anything stands out on top of a background.  I was inspired by this painting of colour field which also uses square and rectangular shapes.  The colours in this painting harmonize together to create unity in the painting, instead of making the painting just appear as squares on paper.
