Dancing in the Rain

Abstract art is art that does not represent reality, but instead, creates effects using shapes, forms, colours and textures.
This painting that I recreated is abstract because I used different colours of paint and dripped the paint from the top of the canvas to the bottom of the canvas to create the idea of falling rain. I also drew the silhouette of a girl dancing in the rain to make it appear as if the rain was falling around her, while she was having fun, enjoying the rain. Instead of rain being looked at as depressing and sad, this painting gives rain a happier feeling, since the rain is painted using different and bright colours. If someone does not enjoy the rain, this painting can change their opinion. It can help them to see that rain can be enjoyable depending on your attitude towards it.
My inspiration came from this crayon art piece of a girl standing in the rain. Instead of using crayons to create the idea of rain, I used acrylic paint and dripped it down the canvas. My painting is not as 3-dimensional as this painting, which is something that I would want to change about it. I would like to make my painting more 3-dimensional as it may be more intriguing for a viewer to see the depth in a painting.
I believe that this painting can change a persons mood as it changes my mood. When I look at this painting, I feel happier; I feel as if the girl in the painting is enjoying life and looking at a bad situation as having a negative outcome. After all, why should someone go through life being unhappy. Instead, enjoy all of the moments that you have, making negative situations into enjoyable experiences.
